Feb 6th, 2012: Updates, Updates, Read All About 'Em

Been a while since our last news update, and we've got a lot to tell you about.

First off, we soft-launched our first iPhone version a few weeks ago, and you can find us on the App Store by searching for "Hitchery". We've been getting some good feedback from a bunch of new users, which has been fun and helpful. The Android version continues to get updates on the Market as well, as we move forward towards a real launch.

Speaking of which... we're launching for real in the next few weeks, just ahead of SXSW, where we'll have a booth at the trade show! Whether you're going to be at the show or not, we hope your hitchers will join us to share some photos, stories, and fun from this great event. We'll be running some promotions to demonstrate some of the potential of Hitchery's "virtual travel" model, so be on the lookout for details leading up to the show.

Our launch version is going to have a completely updated UI, with a much prettier look and a more functional interface. You can see a sample on our Facebook page. We're stoked.

Finally, we want to tell you about Bus Stops! In the current Android version, you'll notice a "Create Bus Stop" menu item when your bus is pulled over at a location. Bus Stops allow you to have a lasting presence at places where you pull over regularly - and the really cool part is that once you establish a stop somewhere, hitchers from all over the world will start appearing there via our "courtesty shuttle"! You'll be notified when new hitchers are dropped at your stop, and you can start sharing your world with them. We hope you guys enjoy this new feature, which we'll be doing a lot more with in the future. Bus Stops will be available for iPhone users as well, but not until our upcoming launch.

Whew - that's about it for now, thanks for reading. A big shout-out to all our testers around the world (there are hitchers in Australia, Russia, Thailand, and London, to name a few!). Thanks for helping us make Hitchery a reality!

Happy Hitching!
